The history of NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky began in 1866 when it was a small bar owned by Mr Krasnapolsky. His decision to create a few rooms on-site blossomed into a full-scale expansion and resulted in the creation of this unique and grand complex. Both leisure and business travellers can discover everything they require under one roof in this landmark hotel.

The 22 board and banquet rooms can accommodate up to 2000 people for both business and social events. After meetings and sight-seeing, the state-of-the-art beauty centre and fitness room are just the cure and provide necessary relaxation in this bustling and exciting city.

Our team of concierges is happy to answer all your questions and fulfil all your wishes during your stay; ranging from bike rental to a boating tour along the canals from our private landing jetty to discover the city’s many faces.

Food & beverage

The hotel offers a Summer Garden and a monumental Winter Garden where you can enjoy an extensive breakfast buffet in the morning. In a-la-carte restaurant Reflet you can enjoy assorted French oriented dishes in belle époque style. For fans of the oriental cuisine, restaurant Shilbli Bedouin is an excellent choice. The Wynand Fockink Distillery, dating back to 1679, where you can taste and buy Jenevers and liqueurs, is the eldest distillery in Amsterdam. The Lounge offers connoisseurs its house tea selection, liqueurs and a royal view of the Dam. The Golden Palm Bar offers assorted top-class cocktails.

Restaurant opening hours are from 17:00 to 23:00.
Lounge: open all day.

A hot and cold breakfast buffet is available:
Monday to Friday from 06.30 to 10.30 and Saturday to Sunday from 07:00 to 11:00.

Room information

A comfortable atmosphere dominates throughout the hotel, thanks to modern facilities and tasteful, stylish furnishings. Vibrant red is utilised throughout and promotes an elegant feel and sense of warmth.

Area information

The hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam’s characteristic old centre. Trend-setting shopping streets are just around the corner, just as the many cultural gems such as the Royal Palace, Beurs van Berlage and the Oude Kerk. Other attractions nearby are Madame Tussauds, the Anne Frank Museum, Van Gogh Museum and the Red Light District.

Anne Frank Museum (1.8km) - The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well known museum. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display.

Royal Palace (0.2km) - The Dutch Royal House is the House of Orange-Nassau. Since the 15th century, the fortunes of this House have been closely tied to those of the Netherlands. Since that time, the Oranges have made a major contribution to the government as viceroys, kings and queens.

Very little

The staff are rude unhelpful ,i have been a very frequent user of this hotel , probably been 12 times in the last 4 years , i will not be going again. I do not expect to be charged £55 for breakfast to then have all the food cleared away as i am trying to eat.

The hotel is excellent and I would stay here again

This was the second time we stayed in the hotel, the first was in March 2008. Although we enjoyed our stay, we did enjoy our first stay better. The room was more spacious and seemed fresher, and we had a better range of toiletries available in the bathroom the first time we stayed.

Bigger rooms - 1.40 cm !! is too small for double bed !!

Position of hotel, great staff, good food, general comfort

We did not like the fact that you have taken some rooms and made them smaller with bathrooms we could hardly move in, Did not like the floors with no carpet. My wife had to ask for slippers to stop her feet being cold. The cooling system seemed useless so we were very hot in our room.

Everything! We have stayed there many times over the last 20 years and have never, ever found a flaw in goods or services! The Krasnapolsky is an excellent hotel!!

The breakfast is excellent. The concierge is really helpful and friendly - he is the perfect man for the job! The hotel is in a great location and the facilities are excellent.

The staff were very friendly and actually upgraded us to an apartment free of charge as our room was unavailable because we arrived early! They did not have to do this.

The only problem with the apartment was the thin windows and although it backed onto a quiet street, it was sometimes noisey during the night.

poor fitness room, very noisy, the furniture in the room is very old and the bathroom is very poor. no conditioner and no body ceam in the bathroom wich is elementery for this kind of pricing.
